Made with the deaf community in mind, but they could be an essential tool for caregivers and teachers everywhere.

Why Wear Clear Face Masks?

Face masks are now a necessary tool in our everyday life to slow the spread of COVID-19, but not every face mask works for everyone. An example, what about the hearing impaired?

Early on in the pandemic, it became clear that the deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) community faced a significant disadvantage when it came to face masks, as many rely on reading lips to effectively communicate.

Now pre-school and elementary school teachers as well as speech therapists are realizing how important seeing the lips are in teaching.

We are now happy to feature these masks that have a clear, plastic insert over the mouth area. This allows people to see your lips. Not only is this great for the hearing impaired, it brings a human element to your mask, helping others to see your smile.

Is it safe to wear a clear face mask?

It has been shown that wearing any covering over your nose and mouth greatly reduces the risk of COVID-19. A clear mask like others is effective. You just need to make sure you get a mask that has the plastic sewn securely in it. Also make sure there are no punctures in the clear part of the mask.

This is most important to inspect your mask after washing and drying to ensure there are no holes and the plastic is still secure.

While these types of masks are washable the lifetime of it is generally about 10 to 12 washings.
